The Hot Shots get their level score at the wish

Four of the members of the hot shot group competed at the Make A Wish classic looking to get their score to qualify out of Level 5. The girls did that with ease while collecting some hardware along the way.

On Vault Kali and Emma led the way with equal scores of 8.8. On Bars Julia swung with ease for a team high 9.25 and a fourth place finish. Kali finished with a 9.125 and Racquel scored a 9.0 which finished 4th in her age group.

The four hit beam and Julia posted a 9.425 for 2nd place. Kali performed a solid routine for a 9.225 and a 4th place finish. Floor was last and Kali and Julia again lead the team with a 9.125 and 9.0 respectively.

Level 7's start the season off well

Our level 7 team had a pretty consistent competition which included a 4th place all around finish by Nina with a 36.975. The team began on beam and all hit there routines with Nina leading the group with a 9.45 and 4th place finish.

On floor they all scored over 9.1 with Sam leading the group with a 9.275, Nina scored a 9.2 and Amber 9.175.

On vault Amber was top with a 9.4 followed by Sam's 9.225 and Nina a 9.0

Bars was a bit shaky but Nina was able to put up a 9.325 performance that placed her in 3rd in her age group.

Level 9's finish 2nd, Kylie wins AA at Make a Wish

The 9's and 10's started off the first meet of the year on vault. Teagan finished 3rd with a 9.275 and Isabella scored a 9.2 for a 4th place finish. Kylie finished 2nd in the level 10 competition with a 9.25.

Bars was a rough event for the level 9's, but the level 10's each hit their routines and start the season on solid effort.

On beam, Isabella led the team with a big score of 9.2 and a 1st place finish while Teagan finished 4th with a 8.625. Kylie scored a 9.05 to finish 4th

We finished on floor and had a pretty consistent showing. Katie led the charge for the level 9's with a 9.05 and 2nd place while Teagan and Isabella finished 4th and 5th respectively. Kylie (9.2) and Emuly (9.15)went 1 and 2 on floor.

Kylie finished 1st in the All Around with a 36.2.

Level 8's take third in season opener

The Level 8 team took third place as a team at the Make a Wish CLassic. The team began the competition on vault and struggled a bit but came up with two good vaults from Erin(9.1) and Cassi(8.85) to finish 2nd and 4th respectfully.

On bars the team hit all their routines which were highlighted by Veronika's 5th place 9.0 and Kennedy's 1st place 9.275.

On beam we had stand out performances from Payton with a 5th place 9.05, Erin with 9.2 for 3rd place and Bailey's 9.275 for 4th place in her age group.

On floor, Payton had our top score with 3rd place 9.15, and Cassi finished 4th with a 9.1

Erin started her season off with a 36.025 and 2nd place AA finish. Here are the rest of the AA around finishes

GIJO Optional Team WINS STATE!!

The four GIJO Optionals gymnasts at Palmer's hit their routines at the state meet to place 1st as a team. Way to go girls! Below are their individual highlites:

Sarah D. hit her new bar routine for a score of 9.2 and 1st place, she also made her layout 1 1/2 on floor and scored a 9.35 and 1st place. Sarah also placed 1st on vault and 3rd place on beam to WIN the All- Around!!

Ashley R. had her best meet of the year, placing 3rd on vault, 2nd on vault and floor, and placing 1st on beam and in the All-Around for her age group!

Casey B. Won the floor in her age group with a 9.0 and also placed 3rd in the All-Around!

Alyssa Y. Won Vault with a score of 8.45, took 3rd on bars and placed 5th in the All-Around!

Jordan DeClerk at Boys 2011 JO National Championships



Congrats to Jordan DeClerk for competing on the Region V regional team at the 2011 Junior Olympic National Championships in Long Beach, California May 4th- 8th. Jordan had a great competition and qualified in preliminaries for All Around Finals! During Podium training Jordan tweaked his back on Vault but fought through each event for a very strong competition. These are his scores for Prelims:

FX- 12.20, PH- 13.250, SR- 13.650(10th), VT- 14.05, PB- 14.10(9th), HB- 13.15, AA- 80.40(26th)

The next days competition was All- Around finals and still dealing with a sore back was able to compete and finished 28th in the Nation! Congrats to Jordan for a fantastic 2011 Season!! Here are his event scores for All-Around Finals:

FX- 13.95, PH- 11.40, SR- 13.30, VT- 13.95, PB- 13.65, HB-12.55, AA- 78.80, and a combined Prelims and Finals score of 159.20

Palmer's Boys Level 8-10 Region 5 Championships

The Palmer's Boys team had their Regional 5 Championship April 15th- 17th 2011 at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. And had an outstanding competition!

Andrew Lewarchick is the Level 8 Region 5 All-Around Champion and Vault Champion!

Day 2 of 2011 Level 8 Regionals

Day 2 for Palmers Gymnastics at the 2011 Level 8 Regionals at Twistars Gymnastics in Michigan was a up and down day but finished with both Jessica and Teagan taking home hardware for their performances.

Jessica who has competed in only 2 events this season due to an elbow injury again came out and hit both her beam (9.125) for 13th place finish and floor routine(9.075).



Teagan had a bit of an up and down day but finished with a tie for 2nd on Vault (9.4) and 3rd on floor (9.4). She also contributed to the Illinois State Team which took 2nd place in the regional team competition.



Congrats to all our level 8's on their accomplishments this season. Now time to train hard and perfect the Level 9 skills.

Day 1 of 2011 Level 8 Regionals

Our Level 8's are competing in the Region 5 Championships at Twistars Gymnastics in Diamondale, IL. This competition features the best level 8 gymnasts from 5 states... Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.

Kaitlyn finished 8th on beam with a 9.225 and 12th on Floor with a 9.175. She also contributed to a 2nd place team finish for Illinois in the state region team competition.



Annalise had a 9.1 on floor and a 8.95 on vault.



Erin had her best meet of the season going 4 for 4.

Level 8's do well at State all qualify to regionals

Our Level 8's competed in the 2011 state meet with everyone qualifying to the regional championships in two weeks.

Katelyn had the highest score and finish for the level 8's with a 5th place finish in the AA with a 36.25. She also broke the top 10 with a 3rd on beam 9.25, 10th on floor 9.325 and scored a 9.075 on bars. This performance qualified her onto the Illinois State Team for regionals in which she will compete on the Illinois Team against the other states in our region(Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky)

Teagan also qualified to the Illinois State team with her 9th place finish in the AA scoring a 36.225. She finished 3rd on vault with 9.475, 9th on floor with 9.325 and also scored a 9.05 on bars.

Veronika finished 10th AA with a 36.15 and finished 3rd on bars with a 9.45. She also scored a 9.075 on floor.

Jessica competed in only two events but qualified to regionals on both. She finished 6th on beam with a 9.3 and 8th on floor with a 9.375.

Erin finished 6th on bars with a 9.225 and also scored a 9.15 on floor.

Annalise finished 4th on floor with a 9.45.

Jaemie scored a 9.15 on floor to finish with a 35.425 in the AA.

Level 7 finish season strong at State

Our Palmers Level 7 Gymnasts Kennedy and Bailey each finished the 2011 season with a good showing at the Level 7 State Meet.

Kennedy had one of her best meets of the year finishing 3rd AA with a 37.225. She also broke the top 10 on 3 events with 10th on bars 9.425, 8th on beam 9.125, and 8th on floor 9.475. She also scored a 9.2 on vault




Bailey also finished the season well with a 5th Place finish on bars with a 9.55. She also scored a 9.175 on beam, 9.175 on floor and 36.75 in the AA.

Level 10 Maggie post session high scores at 2011 State Meet

Level 10 Maggie competed in her last Illinois State Meet and went out in season high fashion. Maggie had a little shaky start on beam but finished the meet strong with season highs on floor, vault and All Around. She finished 2nd on floor with a 9.725, 3rd on vault with a 9.625, and 5th all around with a 37.45. She also tallied a 9.3 on bars. Maggie has qualified to the 2011 Region 5 Level 10 Championships in Cleveland Ohio where she will try to qualify for this years Level 10 Nationals in California.

Palmers Teams to compete at State

The 2011 competition season has entered into championship time. This weekend our level 6,9,10 team girls as well as our boys team compete in their respective state competitions. The level 6 girls team begin competition on friday and will conclude saturday morning. The level 6 team is coming off a 2nd place finish in their last meet and look well prepared to challenge the best in the state for a team banner and individual honors.


Our Level 9 and 10 gymnasts will compete at state starting saturday night and conclude sunday afternoon. This state meet marks the last state competition for our two seniors Level 9 Sam and Level 10 Maggie. These athletes are competing to get the qualifying score to the Regional Championships in Cleveland three weeks from now.

The boys team are also competing in their state meet this weekend. Competition begins Friday and will conclude on sunday. Our Level 8 and 10 team gymnasts are looking to score high enough to qualify to regionals in Columbus Ohio in three weeks. The Level 4 boys who have continued to improve all season will finish their 2011 meet season this weekend.

GIJO Level 4 and 5 Teams Go for the GOLD!

What a great meet for the level 4 team! They took home the second place trophy as a team (TIED for 1st!)

All of the girls placed in the top 2 in their age groups! Below are all around placements and the special awards they received from the judges:

The level 5 team placed 3rd with only 3 girls!

Julia and Jackie each placed first in their age groups! Jackie with a 37.2 and Juila with a 35.35 in the all around.

Megan had a great bar routine and scored and personal best of 8.7

The girls received special awards from the judges for Best Handstand on Beam (Julia) and Biggest Vault (Jackie)

All of the level 3 girls recorded their season best all around scores at the "Go for the Gold" meet on Saturday, March 19th. We had some of the top placements with Taylor in 2nd, Mikaela in 3rd and Annie in 3rd in their age groups.

Level 8's win at the Salto Invite

Our level 8 team finished the regular season with a team win at the Salto Invite in Wisconsin. Along with the best team score the level 8's posted the highest vault and beam team score as well. Here is a look at the vault and beam highlights.





Individually the 8's faired very well as we had 3 finish in the top 5 AA in their respective age groups as well as some event top 2 finishes.
Veronika and her best meet of the season thus far with a 3rd place finish on vault(8.95), 3rd on bars (9.45), 9.025 on beam, and 9.0 on floor to finish with a 36.425 and 5th place.

Kaitlyn scored her season high on bars with a 9.2 which finished 3rd, 1st on beam with a 9.325, 2nd on floor with a 9.2 and 2nd AA with a 36.125

Teagan finished 2nd on vault with a 9.2, 4th on beam with a 9.05 and 4th on floor with a 9.15 to finish with a 36.00 AA and 3rd place.

On floor Erin scored a 9.2 and Annalise scored a 9.15 and placed 5th

The level 8's have an official judged intrasquad at Palmers before competing at the State Championships in Bloomington the first weekend of April.

Level 7 Duo take 2nd place AA at the Salto Invitational

Our level 7 girls finished the regular season off in fine fashion each finishing 2nd place AA in their respective age groups. Kennedy finished 2nd on bars (9.25), 3rd on beam (9.3) and won Floor with a 9.5 to finish with a 36.85 in the AA(2nd).



Bailey finished 2nd on bars(9.4),3rd on beam(9.35), and 6th on floor(9.0) to finish with an AA score of 36.2(2nd).



The level 7's have an a official judge intrasquad in a few weeks before competing in the State Championships in Bloomington the first weekend in April.

Level 6's compete at the Classic Rock Invite

This weekend the Palmers Girls team is competing at the Classic Rock Invite in Glendale, AZ at the University Phoenix Stadium site of this years BCS National Championship game for college football. This was the first travel trip for all 5 of the girls who competed.

Amber B continued her successful season with a 2nd place finish in the AA as well as 2nd on Vault with a 9.4 and 3rd on Floor.

Cassi B finished 3rd in her age group on Vault with a 9.15 and 3rd on floor.

Nina G finished 3rd in her age group on beam with a 9.3

Level 4 Boys compete at Valentine Classic

The level 4's competed this weekend at the Valentine Classic. This year is their first year competing and they keep improving each and every meet.

Brett P finished in the top three in five of the events with 3rd place on floor(14.600), 3rd on rings(15.100),1st on vault(15.000), 2nd on p-bars(14.90) and 2nd on high bar(14.80) and finished 2nd in the All Around with a 87.300.

Nathan R finished 10th on rings(14.700), 10th on vault(14.700), and 8th on p-bars(14.000) and finished with an All Around score of 78.600.

Derek C scored a 14.100 on rings and a 14.200 on vault to finish with a 78.500.

Konrad C scored a 14.500 on vault to finish with a 73.900.

Louie R scored a 12.900 on floor and a 14.300 on vault to finish with an All Around of
63.200

Jason Z 13.100 on rings and a 14.60 on vault and finished with a 70.600.

Joseph G scored a 14.000 on vault and a 13.700 on p-bars and scored a 77.400 in the All Around.

Joel S scored a 13.000 on rings and a 13.800 on vault and a 66.500 in the All Around.

Boys Level 8 and 10's place well at Valentine Classic

This past weekend our Level 8 and 10 boys competed at the Valentine Classic at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Level 8 Andrew Lewarchick finished 1st on rings(12.1) and vault(12.9) and 3rd All Around with a 65.4.

Level 10 Connor Gonzales competed in his first meet in over a year and finished 2nd on rings(12.7), 3rd on vault(13.5) and 3rd on P-bars(12.7).

GIJO Teams Shine at St. Charles

The GIJO level 3- Optional girls had a great first meet on Sunday, January 30th. The first session started off with the level 3 and 4's. This was the very first meet for some of the girls and they really had a great showing. Below are some highlights:

Carlina S. 1st place All- Around L3 (7 and under)
Nicole C. 1st place All- Around L4 (12 and over)
Kylie G. 1st place All-Around L4 (8 and under)

The level 3 team placed 1st and the Level 4 team placed 2nd


The second session included the level 5's and the Optional level girls.

They have been working on cleaning up their form and really put together some quality performances.

Level 5, Jackie F. Placed 1st in the All-Around with a great score of 36.35

We had quite a few 1st place finishes for the optionals: Sarah D 1st AA, Casey B. 1st Vault, Ashley R 1st Beam

The level 5 team took 2nd place and the Optional girls took first place as a team. Great job girls!! Keep up the hard work :)

Level 6's 2nd Place at Circle of Stars

The level 6's finished off the 2011 Circle of Stars weekend with a 2nd Place finish as a team. The girls started on bars(which was a tightly judged event for all competitors) with both Peyton and Amber finishing 2nd in their age groups, while Sam finished in 3rd place in her age group. On Beam Amber finished 1st in her age group with a 9.2 and Nina finished 2nd in her age group with a 9.25. Here is video of beam:



On floor Peyton and Nina tied with a 9.05 but the tie was broken by the all around with Peyton taking 2nd and Nina 3rd. (will post floor video soon)


The girls finished the competition with strong vaults as Amber took first with a season high 9.425, Cassi took first in her age group with a 9.225, Nina took 3rd with a 9.2, Sam took 2nd with 9.175, and Peyton took 6th with a 9.025.

In the All Around Amber won her age group with a 36.125, Peyton finished 2nd with a 35.75 in her age group, Sam place 2nd with a 35.175, and Nina placed 4th with a 35.5.

Congrats to all of the Level 6's for their individual accomplishments as well as the 2nd Place Team Trophy.

Level 7 Kennedy O'Neill wins beam finishes 3rd AA at COS

This past saturday the Level 7's and 10's competed at the 2011 Circle of Stars. In the Level 7 Session Kennedy O'Neill finished 1st on Beam with a 9.15, 2nd on floor with a 9.225, and 4th on vault with a 9.2 and finished in 3rd in the all around with a 35.8.

Level 8's and 9's win at Circle of Stars


Our Palmers Level 8's took first place in their session yesterday at the 2011 Circle of Stars competition at the Indianapolis Convention Center. This is the first team win for the Level 8's after finishing 4th and 2nd in the first two meets. The girls started off a little shaky on bars though Veronika finished 4th in her age group with a 9.0.. The team had their best beam rotation of the season so far with 3 girls Jaemie (9.325), Teagan (9.225), Katie (9.4) taking 1st place in their age groups along with a 2nd place finish for Jessica (9.175) and a 4th place finish for Isabella (9.15).

On floor 6 girls finished in the top 5 with Annalise winning her age group with a 9.2. The other scores were as follows Veronika 4th (9.025), Jaemie 4th (9.15), Jessica 3rd (9.2), Isabella 2nd (9.275) and Katie 5th (9.075).

On Vault Teagan and Isabella each hit a big vault for 9.225 and 9.4 respectively. We also had 4 girls finish in the top 4 in the All Around with Isabella (36.025) and Katie (35.8) taking first place, Jamie (36.225) finished 2nd and Teagan (35.1) finished 3rd.


In the level 9 competition, Sam tumbled and danced her way to a 9.025 and 1st place in her age group.

Palmers Boys take on the Windy City

Palmers Boys team members competed this past weekend at the 2011 Windy City Invite in Chicago at

UIC Physical Education Building. The Windy City Invite is one of the largest boys invitationals in the country with teams from all over the United States and Canada.

Level 10 Jordan DeClerk finished 4th on Floor Exercise with a score of 14.00 which for those of you unfamiliar with boys scoring is a good score. On Vault Jordan scored a 14.05 and had a respectable ring score of 12.75.

Level 8 Andrew Lewarchick competed very well finishing in the top 10 on three events and just missing the top ten in the all around with a 11th place finish. Andrew finished 7th on vault with a 12.9, 4th on pbars 12.9 and 5th on High Bar 10.9 to finish with an all around of 67.9.

The boys next competition is in a few weeks at the Valentine Classic.
