Palmers Boys compete in Iowa; DeClerk finishes 3rd AA
This weekend our Level 8,9,10 Boys competed at the Iowa Boys Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa. Level 8 Joey Simon had a good competition finishing 7th All Around with a 68.0. Joey finished 6th on Pommel Horse, 5th on rings, 6th on vault(12.6) and 3rd on High Bar. Sam Minark finished with an All Around score of 59.3.
Level 9 Andrew Lewarchick scored a 12.8 on P-bars to finish 5th on that event. Andrew also achieved scores above the 12.0 mark on floor(12.3), rings(12.0), vault(12.8) to finish with a 70.3 in the All Around.
The Level 10's had a great showing at the meet each achieving their highest AA around scores of the season. Jordan DeClerk finished 3rd All Around with a 82.5. This included a 1st place rings performance of 14.7, 4th place on floor (14.3), 4th on vault(14.8), and 2nd on High Bar(13.2).
Connor Gonzales finished in 6th Place with his highest AA score as a Level 10 at 79.0. He had scores over the 13.0 mark on Floor(13.4),rings (13.4), vault (14.0), and a 3rd place high bar performance of a 13.4.

Level 4 Team finishes on top!
The AAU Level 4 Team won 1st Place at St. Charles!
Wow, what a great meet!! The level 4 girls hit ALL of their routines. We did not have a single fall or missed element. They have been working hard and it shows with their 1st place finish against 6 other teams. Below are some of our top finishes individually:

Level 8's place 3rd at Circle of Stars
Our level 8's competed at the Circle of Stars this past weekend and finished third in a very competitive session. We started the competition on balance beam and had some good performances with Erin and Payton grabbing the top scores for the team with equal 9.325's. Bailey turned in a 9.2 and Kennedy scored her first score over 9 on beam this season with a 9.175.
On floor Payton scored a 9.225, Cassi 9.2, Erin 9.1 and Veronika 9.05. We had some trouble on vault but Erin posted a 9.0 and Payton landed her tuck yurchenko vault for a 8.8.
On bars Veronika scored our teams highest score and a 3rd place finishing 9.325. Cassi was the only other score above 9.0 scoring a 9.15 on bars.
We had 2 place in the top 4 All Around in their respective age groups. Veronika finished 3rd with a 36.05 and Erin finished 4th with a 36.25. Payton also broke the 36 mark in the AA with a 36.275 but did not place.

The Hot Shots get their level score at the wish
Four of the members of the hot shot group competed at the Make A Wish classic looking to get their score to qualify out of Level 5. The girls did that with ease while collecting some hardware along the way.
On Vault Kali and Emma led the way with equal scores of 8.8. On Bars Julia swung with ease for a team high 9.25 and a fourth place finish. Kali finished with a 9.125 and Racquel scored a 9.0 which finished 4th in her age group.
The four hit beam and Julia posted a 9.425 for 2nd place. Kali performed a solid routine for a 9.225 and a 4th place finish. Floor was last and Kali and Julia again lead the team with a 9.125 and 9.0 respectively.

Level 7's start the season off well
Our level 7 team had a pretty consistent competition which included a 4th place all around finish by Nina with a 36.975. The team began on beam and all hit there routines with Nina leading the group with a 9.45 and 4th place finish.
On floor they all scored over 9.1 with Sam leading the group with a 9.275, Nina scored a 9.2 and Amber 9.175.
On vault Amber was top with a 9.4 followed by Sam's 9.225 and Nina a 9.0
Bars was a bit shaky but Nina was able to put up a 9.325 performance that placed her in 3rd in her age group.

GIJO Optional Team WINS STATE!!
The four GIJO Optionals gymnasts at Palmer's hit their routines at the state meet to place 1st as a team. Way to go girls! Below are their individual highlites:
Sarah D. hit her new bar routine for a score of 9.2 and 1st place, she also made her layout 1 1/2 on floor and scored a 9.35 and 1st place. Sarah also placed 1st on vault and 3rd place on beam to WIN the All- Around!!
Ashley R. had her best meet of the year, placing 3rd on vault, 2nd on vault and floor, and placing 1st on beam and in the All-Around for her age group!
Casey B. Won the floor in her age group with a 9.0 and also placed 3rd in the All-Around!
Alyssa Y. Won Vault with a score of 8.45, took 3rd on bars and placed 5th in the All-Around!

Jordan DeClerk at Boys 2011 JO National Championships

FX- 12.20, PH- 13.250, SR- 13.650(10th), VT- 14.05, PB- 14.10(9th), HB- 13.15, AA- 80.40(26th)
The next days competition was All- Around finals and still dealing with a sore back was able to compete and finished 28th in the Nation! Congrats to Jordan for a fantastic 2011 Season!! Here are his event scores for All-Around Finals:
FX- 13.95, PH- 11.40, SR- 13.30, VT- 13.95, PB- 13.65, HB-12.55, AA- 78.80, and a combined Prelims and Finals score of 159.20

Palmer's Boys Level 8-10 Region 5 Championships
The Palmer's Boys team had their Regional 5 Championship April 15th- 17th 2011 at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. And had an outstanding competition!
Andrew Lewarchick is the Level 8 Region 5 All-Around Champion and Vault Champion!

Day 2 of 2011 Level 8 Regionals
Day 2 for Palmers Gymnastics at the 2011 Level 8 Regionals at Twistars Gymnastics in Michigan was a up and down day but finished with both Jessica and Teagan taking home hardware for their performances.
Jessica who has competed in only 2 events this season due to an elbow injury again came out and hit both her beam (9.125) for 13th place finish and floor routine(9.075).
Teagan had a bit of an up and down day but finished with a tie for 2nd on Vault (9.4) and 3rd on floor (9.4). She also contributed to the Illinois State Team which took 2nd place in the regional team competition.
Congrats to all our level 8's on their accomplishments this season. Now time to train hard and perfect the Level 9 skills.
